carbon offsets essentially allow you to pay companies that work to reduce carbon in the atmosphere to offset the carbon you help put into the atmosphere. So say if I were traveling to NY, you could calculate how much of the carbon emissions that that plane emits is due to you, then pay to reduce that amount of carbon in the atmosphere in another capacity . Or you can plant trees in Israel through the Jewish National Fund (JNF) which is one of the initiatives I was talking about yesterday.
